What Is Treatment?

Treatment, by its simple definition, means the act or manner or an instance of treating someone or something. [1] However, when we mean treatment, we are referring to drug and alcohol treatment

Types of Treatment

Inpatient Treatment Center

Inpatient Treatment

Inpatient treatment, also referred to as drug rehab, is a place where people go for 30, 60, or 90 days. Clients physically live at the facility for the duration of their care. Usually, patients are required to endure an initial stage of medical detox. Then they will be allowed to attend the daily programming of the inpatient center.

Outpatient treatment with therapist

Intensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient treatment (usually referred to as IOP), is defined as  substance abuse services for people with addiction use disorders or co-occurring mental disorders. [2] People who do not require medical detoxification or 24-hour supervision make a great fit for outpatient treatment. Intensive outpatient typically meets 5 days a week for group therapy.

PHP treatment room

PHP

PHP, or partial hospitalization, is a type of treatment that has a living element. PHP is usually a sober living home with an intensive outpatient program. The benefits of PHP are huge because they are able to accept insurance for living and therapeutic services.

Therapy treatment

Outpatient Treatment

OP (Outpatient) treatment is similar to the structure of IOP, but the attendance levels are much less. With OP, clients are only attending group around 2-3 days a week (as opposed to 5 with IOP).
